About the Role
LifePath of Mid-Missouri is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Human Resources to lead and manage all HR operations for our organization. This leadership role is critical to shaping HR strategy, ensuring compliance with Department of Mental Health (DMH) requirements, and supporting a positive, compliant, and engaged workplace culture.
The Director of HR works closely with executive leadership to attract, develop, and retain high-quality staff while ensuring operational stability and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and process bi-weekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state, federal, and DMH regulations
Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, disability coverage, and 401(k); serve as primary administrator of Employee Navigator
Lead annual open enrollment and manage employee benefits inquiries and issue resolution
Coordinate workers’ compensation and unemployment claims
Manage the full employment lifecycle: recruitment, job postings, screening, interviews, onboarding, and orientation
Ensure completion of all DMH-required onboarding, background checks, FCSR registrations, E-Verify, and mandatory trainings
Maintain audit-ready personnel files in compliance with DMH standards
Track staffing ratios, licensure requirements, and prioritize recruitment for high-need programs
Advise leadership on employee relations, disciplinary actions, performance improvement plans, and terminations
Conduct exit interviews and manage COBRA notifications
Lead and support DMH audits, inspections, and compliance reviews
Ensure compliance with employment laws including ADA, FMLA, EEO, HIPAA, COBRA, USERRA, and FLSA
Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and performance evaluation processes
Supervise and provide oversight to administrative support staff
Support employee engagement initiatives, staff events, and professional development efforts
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field OR five (5) years of progressive HR management experience
Strong knowledge of HR principles, employee benefits, payroll administration, and employment law
Prior experience administering payroll using Paycor or similar software
Experience supervising staff and managing multiple priorities
Ability to obtain and maintain DMH certifications (CPR/First Aid, Abuse & Neglect, Positive Behavior Supports)
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
PHR or SHRM-CP certification
Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
Additional Requirements
Ability to pass background checks and register with the Family Care Safety Registry
Ability to travel overnight up to 15 days per year for training or conferences
Ability to maintain a bank account for direct deposit
